The world of music recently witnessed a mesmerizing collaboration as mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile, renowned bluegrass guitarist Billy Strings, and the exceptionally talented organist/pianist Cory Henry graced the stage for the final installment of the NY Phil’s The 65th Street Session.
Curated by Thile himself, this season of musical brilliance concluded on February 1st at David Geffen Hall’s Wu Tsai Theater, leaving the audience in awe.
The Musical Journey of the 65th Street Session
The 65th Street Session, hosted by Chris Thile, offered a wide variety of artists every season. The mandolin melodies of Thile, the powerful bluegrass guitar tones of Billy Strings, and the sad organ and piano tones of Cory Henry sum up the musical skill of the entire album in the last performance.
The Wu Tsai Theater at David Geffen Hall, which is located in the center of Lincoln Center right off 65th Street, made the perfect venue for our musical adventure.
Collaboration
This collaboration is even more special because of the diverse musical backgrounds of the artists involved.
Chris Thile, well-known for hosting Live From Here, playing mandolin with Punch Brothers, and working with Nickel Creek, puts his mandolin skills front and center.

Billy Strings, a young talent in the bluegrass style, adds his special touch with his guitar strings. Cory Henry’s skill on the organ and piano, adds a deep and soulful quality to the partnership.
